Made-to-measure wall murals: how to measure your wall and order the right size
A wall mural can be ordered to the exact size of your wall: you enter the width and height in centimetres, and the design is printed to fit that wall. This means the mural can also be adapted to a low, wide or unusually shaped wall without the image being cut off.
Which wall murals can be made to measure
At Moonavoor, made-to-measure wall murals are available from Rebel Walls, Sandberg, Wallcolors, Wallcraft, One Wall Design and Löwen Casa. On these product pages, you can enter the width and height, and the price is calculated per square metre.
| Manufacturer | How to enter the size |
|---|---|
| Rebel Walls | width and height on the product page |
| Sandberg | width and height on the product page |
| Wallcolors | width, height and texture on the product page |
| Wallcraft | width, height and texture on the product page |
| One Wall Design | width and height on the product page |
| Löwen Casa | width and height on the product page |
| Consalnet | ready-made sizes M to XXXXXL (from 104 × 70.5 cm to 520 × 318 cm), other sizes by email |
| Glamora | sizes by agreement via email |
All other wall murals come in a fixed size, which is stated on the product page. However, most manufacturers can also print murals to custom sizes. To arrange this, email us at info@moonavoor.ee.
How to measure your wall correctly
Measure the wall in several places, as walls and ceilings are rarely perfectly straight. In older buildings, measurements can differ by several centimetres.
- Measure the width of the wall at the top, middle and bottom. Write down the largest measurement.
- Measure the height on the left, in the middle and on the right, from the floor or skirting board to the ceiling. Again, use the largest measurement.
- Measure in centimetres with a tape measure or a laser distance meter.
- If the wall has a window, door, radiator or sloped ceiling, measure the whole wall, not just the free area. The mural covers the entire wall, and the openings are cut out during installation.
- Note where the windows and doors are. This helps you choose a design whose key part will not end up where a window or door is.
- If the mural will cover several walls or wrap around a corner, measure each wall separately.
How much extra to allow
Add 5 cm to both the width and the height. For example, for a 320 × 260 cm wall, order a mural measuring 325 × 265 cm.
This extra allowance helps compensate for uneven walls and ceilings, and the excess is trimmed off the edges after hanging. For this reason, avoid designs where the most important detail sits right at the edge.
How to order online
- Choose a design in the “Wall murals” category and open the product page.
- Enter your wall measurements, including the extra allowance, in the “Width (cm)” and “Height (cm)” fields.
- If needed, also choose a texture, for example Prowall Canvas, Prowall Sand or Prowall ECO.
- The price is calculated automatically by area. Check the measurements and add the product to your cart.
- The mural is printed to your measurements and delivered in panels that are easy to hang one by one.
If you want a particular part of the design to sit in a specific place on the wall, such as a tree trunk behind the sofa, send us the wall measurements and a photo of the wall at info@moonavoor.ee. We will help you check the measurements and placement before you order.
A made-to-measure mural is produced specifically for your order, so it cannot be returned. Please check your measurements twice before ordering.
Which material to choose
Choose the material according to the room and how the wall will be used: non-woven for a dry living room, vinyl for a wall that needs frequent cleaning, and a moisture-resistant material for the bathroom.
- Non-woven wallpaper (Easy Up). The paste is applied directly to the wall, the panels do not stretch or shrink, and they are easy to align precisely. Suitable for living rooms, bedrooms and studies.
- Vinyl. More durable and easier to clean. Suitable for hallways, children’s rooms and kitchens.
- Moisture-resistant material. For bathrooms and other damp rooms. For extra protection, we offer the WET System moisture protection kit and Metroresin waterproof varnish.
- Self-adhesive material. No paste is needed. It must not be applied to ceramic tiles, surfaces painted with latex paint or washable surfaces.
Wallcolors, Wallcraft and Löwen Casa designs can be printed on materials with different finishes, such as canvas, sand or concrete effects. Texture and colour are best assessed from samples, which are available in our showroom in Tallinn at Veerenni 24.
Frequently asked questions
Can I order a wall mural to the exact size of my wall?
Yes. On the product pages for Rebel Walls, Sandberg, Wallcolors, Wallcraft, One Wall Design and Löwen Casa, you can enter the width and height in centimetres.
What if my wall is not straight?
Measure the wall in several places, use the largest measurement and add 5 cm. The excess is trimmed off after hanging.
How long does an order take?
An estimated delivery time is shown on the product page. It depends on the manufacturer and may be longer during holidays and factory shutdowns, so it is best to order in good time.
Is wallpaper paste included?
Consalnet wall murals come with wallpaper paste. For other murals, you will find a suitable paste in the “Adhesive/Accessories” category.
Can a made-to-measure mural be returned?
No. It is printed specifically for your order, so it cannot be returned. That is why it is worth checking the measurements carefully before ordering, or sending them to us to check.
Can I see the material beforehand?
Yes. You can view samples in our showroom in central Tallinn at Veerenni 24 or email us at info@moonavoor.ee.
